KIP-87 — Add Compaction Tombstone Flag
Discussion Broker
Proposes adding an explicit tombstone flag to record attributes so that log compaction can recognize delete markers independently of the record value being null. Requiring null values as tombstones conflates application-level null semantics with compaction deletion semantics, preventing use of envelope wrappers, audit metadata on deletes, and nullable values in compacted topics.
