KIP-80 — Kafka Rest Server

KIP-80 proposed adding an HTTP REST server natively to the Apache Kafka broker for producing, consuming, and performing administrative operations. The motivation was to make Kafka accessible to any language or tool that can issue HTTP requests without a native Kafka client library.
