KIP-611 — Improved Handling of Abandoned Connectors and Tasks
Discarded Connect
Proposes a worker-level watchdog in Kafka Connect that detects connectors or tasks that have blocked beyond a configurable timeout and forcibly terminates them, triggering rebalance to redistribute work. Unresponsive connectors currently degrade the entire worker: REST API calls block, rebalances fail, and the worker eventually falls out of the group silently.
