KIP-310 — Add a Kafka Source Connector to Kafka Connect
Discarded Connect
Proposes wrapping MirrorMaker's Kafka-to-Kafka replication logic as a standard Kafka Connect `SourceConnector`, replacing the standalone MirrorMaker process. The standalone MirrorMaker tool lacks Connect's offset tracking, fault tolerance, distributed mode, and REST management API, making multi-cluster replication operationally burdensome. (Discarded; superseded by KIP-382.)
